The Sensex on Friday closed with a huge gain of 77 points at 3,884, while the Nifty added 26 points to close at 1,223.
Among Sensex firms, Tata Motors rose the most by 3.97 per cent. Mahindra & Mahindra jumped by 3.96 per cent. Maruti, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance and UltraTech Cement were also among the gainers. However, Trent declined 3.81 per cent. Asian Paints, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, L&T, TCS, Power Grid and Sun Pharma were also among the laggards.
The Sensex opened with a gain of 14 points at 6,360, but immediately slipped to a low of 6,346. The bounce from the low saw the index log gains on buying in heavyweights like Reliance.
Among Sensex firms, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Eternal, Infosys, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bajaj Finserv were the major gainers. However, Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Power Grid and Titan were among the laggards.

The Sensex wiped out most of its gains towards the closing hours on selling pressure, and ended with a small gain of four points at 5,226.
The Sensex gained 46 points to close at 4,912, while the Nifty added 13 points to finish at 1,563.
The Sensex, which dropped to a low of 12,941, is now up 10 points at 12,972
The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 33 points at 12,393. The index has zoomed past the 12,500-mark, and is now up 142 points at 12,502.
Bajaj, Maruti, Tata Motors, Hero Honda, SBI, HDFC Bank, Wipro up. Nifty is up 9 points to 1,995.
The Nifty moved in a range of 2632 to 2595, before settling with gains of 17 points at 2620.

The indices opened with a positive gap of 15 points at 5,135. Further buying has propelled the indices northwards. The Sensex is now up 27 points at 5,147. The Nifty is up 6 points at 1,625.
The Nifty also has bounced back from its early lows, and is up four points at 1,598.
The Nifty closed with a gain of 16 points at 1,618.
The Nifty added 90 points to close at 5,535.
The Nifty, which breached the 1,700 levels to touch a high of 1,706, gained four points to close at 1,699.
The Sensex opened 10 points higher at 4,465. Aggressive buying support in old and new economy stocks has lifted the index past 4,500, and is now up 50 points at 4,505. The Nifty also has advanced 15 points to 1,436.
The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 17 points at 4,342. It is now up 22 points at 4,347.
The Sensex, bounced back into positive zone after a short stay in negative zone during the early afternoon deals, and finally finished with a gain of 37 points at 3,926.
The Nifty closed with a gain of seven points at 1,869.
The Nifty also added 15 points to finish at 1,762.

The Sensex opened a tad higher at 5,073 - up six points, and is now at 5,081 - up 14 points.
The Sensex closed with a gain of 75 points at 4,835. The Nifty ended above the 1,500-mark at 1,508 -- up 24 points.

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 20 points at 5,812 and slipped to a low of 5,801 in early deals. After moving in a narrow range till late noon, the Sensex closed with a gain of 47 points at 5,839.
Domestic equities surged on Tuesday, posting their best single-day gains in more than eight months after a long-awaited trade deal between India and the US. The deal, which lowered tariffs on Indian goods to 18 per cent from 50 per cent, significantly improved investor sentiment and lifted a key overhang for the market.
